The Situation in Russia becomes worser and worser

The crisis is a global reality, but there is no place in the world where the decrease of the national economy achives such level like in Russia.
The Putin's government officially recognised that GDP of Russia decreses at 20% annually and at 2,4% in January 2009. The Rouble, a national currency of Russia, devaluated from August 2008 at 52%. First strikes and rallies happened. In Vladivostock, an unofficial capital of the Russian Far East, the government used power to stop a rally which was against the economical politics of Putin. The level of public support of Putin is the lowest from 1999.

Topic news of Russian Monarchists

These two weeks were poor for specific monarchical news, but were full of political news important for Russia where monarchists participated.
4 February was a day of rebellion. In Riga (Latvia, former part of Russia) farmers blockaded central streets of the city and compelled a minister of agriculture to retire. At the same day workers at a machine building plant in Kherson (the Ukraine, a former part of Russia) drove away the administration and its security and seized the territory of the plant. The workers demand to nationalise the plant without any compensation to a proprietor. The salary to the workers wasn't paid for several months.
A director of the Chancellery of H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria of Russia Sir Alexander Zakatov gave interview to portal Credo, a leading Russian portal of clericals. He underlined that it is inadmissible to mix up a monarchy with dictatorship. Sir Alexander Zakatov criticized the fashion for trying to excuse crimes of Stalin and to name him "a red czar".
Leaders of the RIU-O met with representatives of the Russian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and big Russian business. It was discussed a role of monarchical movement politically to protect national industry in the period of global crisis and after it.

Saint Russia got a new Patriarch. At presence of H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria of Russia the enthronisation of His Holiness a Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, the 16th Holy Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, was done on 1 February 2009 in the cathedral in honour of Christ the Saviour in Moscow.

H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria came to Moscow

Today H.I.H. Grand Duchess Maria of Russia came to Moscow. The main reason of the Highest Visit is a participation in enthronisation of a new Holy Patriarch to be held tomorrow in the cathedral in honour of Christ the Saviour.
Grand Duchess visited today a celebration of the 50th anniversary of a prominent leader of a Russian Patriotic Movement LL.D. Sergey Baburin, who is a chancellor of the Russian State University of Trade and Commerce, a unique university in modern Russia, which is under the Highest Patronage. H.I.H. laid on Mr Baburin the Order of Saint Nicholas of the 2nd degree.

Russian Orthodox Christians wait for a Patriarch

The Sixteenth Patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church will be elected at the Local Council of the Church opened today in Moscow. The Local Council is the highest authority of the Russian Orthodox Church which unites bishops, priests, monks and laymen. This Local Council is the 6th in the history of the Russian Orthodoxy (previous Councils were held in 1917, 1945, 1971, 1988 and 1990). 702 delegates were elected to be members of the Local Councils. They present dioceses of the Russian Church from the Russian Federation, other previous parts of the Russian Empire and the Russian emigration: Europe, America, Asia, Australia.
The Russian Imperial Union-Order is presented at the Local Council by Rev Michael Protopopov.
